Transfer Students

The Undergraduate application is used to apply as a transfer student. Please submit ONLY ONE application and use ONLY that application all the way through to submission. Submitting more than one application will most certainly delay your admission decision.

Note: If a student has 30 or more transferable credits, official test scores and personal essay are not required.  

Application Fee: The $50 (non-refundable) online application fee is payable at the time of application for transfer applicants. The paper application fee is $50. If you submitted your application without paying the fee, you may do so through our payment portal. 

Fee Waiver:

Transfer application processing fee is NOT required of:

• Applicants aged 62 and above
• Applicants who applied and/or enrolled and paid the application fee within the past six years

If you are exempt from paying the application fee, please select “Fee Waiver” option on your application to secure this waiver.

Transcripts must be sent directly from each and every college attended (including technical institutions) to the GCSU Office of Admissions.

Official formats for receiving transcripts: Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, Mail

Faxed documents and copies provided by the student are NOT considered official and will not be used for admission purposes. Courses from one institution that are listed on another college transcript will not substitute for an official transcript. Prior educational experience may not be omitted from an application package.

Please note: The requirements listed below are the minimum requirements for consideration. Applications are reviewed holistically and meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

• Have earned 30 or more transferable semester credit hours (45 transferable quarter hours) from a regionally accredited college/university. If student earned less than required transferable credits, visit our Freshman Transfer page.
• Nursing majors: 3.0 cumulative college GPA, as calculated by the Office of Admissions and the Registrar’s Office
• Education majors: 3.0 cumulative college GPA, as calculated by the Office of Admissions and the Registrar’s Office
• All other majors: 2.5 cumulative college GPA, as calculated by the Office of Admissions and the Registrar’s Office
• Be in good academic standing and eligible to re-enroll with their last institution.
• Submit original international transcripts for courses taken in other countries. (if applicable) 

In accordance with USG policy 02.09.01.02, students applying to GCSU must meet the following criteria:  

• Earned a C or higher in MATH 111, MATH 1101, or MATH 1001 or meeting CORE Impacts Mathematics course  

• Earned a C or higher in ENGL 1101  

If a student does not meet these requirements, they may submit ACT, SAT, or CLT scores that meet the policy’s requirements or an official final high school transcript showing the proper math courses completed and cumulative high school GPA set by the policy were met.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and students can expect a decision within 2-3 weeks of completing their application.

This is the first step in the acceptance process and is a conditional acceptance. This acceptance indicates that you have met the initial criteria based on the review by the Office of Admissions. Your credits are now being articulated by the Registrar’s Office and you can proceed with your INTRO form (dates below), which allows our Academic Advisors to register you for classes in your intended start term. 

Your acceptance may be rescinded at this stage if: 

• After articulation, your cumulative college GPA falls below the minimum requirement for your intended major. 

• As a Transfer, your total transferrable credit hours earned after high school graduation fall below 30, and you do not have or meet the required materials to be accepted as a Freshman Transfer. *If you intend to drop or withdraw from any pre-registered courses, please contact the Office of Admissions to discuss if/how these changes might affect your acceptance. 

Your coursework has been articulated and you still meet all requirements. Your acceptance is still conditional, as this step means that you need to submit a final transcript once all final grades for current courses are posted.  

At this stage, you're welcome to apply for housing. Please note, however, that financial aid cannot be awarded until you are a final admit. 

If you have not already completed your INTRO, do so at this stage. 

Important: A final college transcript must include all final grades and cannot show any pre-registered courses for the term you intend to enroll at GCSU. 

Your acceptance may be rescinded at this stage if: 

• After receiving and articulating your final college transcript, your cumulative college GPA falls below the minimum requirement for your intended major. 

• As a Transfer, your total transferrable credit hours earned after high school graduation falls below 30 and you do not have or meet the required materials to be accepted as a Freshman Transfer. *If you intend to drop or withdraw from any pre-registered courses, please contact the Office of Admissions to discuss if/how these changes might affect your acceptance. 

The coursework you’ve submitted has been reviewed and you have been fully admitted.

Notification: An official e-mail will be sent to your personal e-mail address alerting you of the status change.

ANNUAL SECURITY AND FIRE SAFETY REPORT  

The Georgia College & State University (GCSU) Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes crime statistics for the three previous calendar years of reported crimes that occurred on campus; in or on certain non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by GCSU; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and fire safety policies and statistics. The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is published annually by October 1 and is available online at: https://www.gcsu.edu/asfsr. You may request a paper copy of the report by emailing clery@gcsu.edu.
